You got some "Splanin to do"

I love what I do. Honestly, I don’t revel in strategic business maneuvers, grafts, charts and day-to-day doldrums; I just like what the sum of all those parts enables me to do. I’m a musician, not too many of us are any good at business. If we were, the record companies and publishers wouldn’t be so rich and more of us would be living in the hills rather than the valleys and the alleys!
When I started The Rhythmic Arts Project I gave away whatever knowledge and skill I gained freely. I got little more than gas money, if that, and a sandwich no matter how far I traveled or how many classes I facilitated. I thought of it as I thought of many other voluntary organizations I was involved in, as a charity!
The dictionary gives us this explanation: actions are motivated by charity: philanthropy, humanitarianism, humanity, altruism, public-spiritedness, social conscience, and benevolence.
It always kind of makes me scratch my head when folks sell spirituality and “how to” books, seminars and retreats on becoming kind, generous, selfless, ethical, compassionate, and socially conscience. There, now that you know everything there is to know about love and benevolence that will be $6,800.00 dollars please!
Well, it took me forever but I figured it out, even those spiritual giants selling otherworldly, mystical, metaphysical advise for cash had to eat.
But, If I’m donating to your charity and I see you entertaining a group of folks at the most expensive restaurant in town ….you got some splanin’ to do Lucy!

Best,
Eddie
